---Nagbuo na ngayon ng grupo ang ilang mga estudyante ng University of Southern
Mindanao at tinawag na “Initiating Committee on Students Concerns (ICSC).
Ayon sa organizer ng grupo na si A-esha
Afdal Ampatuan layon ng grupo na himukin at pagkaisahin ang mga mag-aaral na
diritsang naapektuhan ng gusot sa Pamantasan sa tulong at suporta ng komunidad para
maibalik ang karapatan ng mga estudyanteng malayang makapag-aral at ang normal
na sitwasyon ng USM.
Sa isang kalatas, inihayag ng grupo na sa
nagdaang anim na buwan, ang mga mag-aaral ng USM ang direktang naaapektuhan ng
sigalot sa USM.
Maraming klase ang naputol, ilang mga
mag-aaral na ang naharrased habang ang iba ay takot ng pumasok dahil sa
agam-agam na di sila ligtas sa loob ng kanilang paaralan ang USM.
At ang pinakamatindi, ayon pa sa grupo ay
maging ang pagpasok sa loob ng Pamantasan ay ipinagkakait sa kanila.
Ang karapatan ng bawat mag-aaral sa kalidad
na edukasyon ay nalabag sa nasabing usapin sa kabila ng paghihirap ng mga
magulang na paaralin ang kanilang anak sa isang prestiyosong paaralan pero hinaharangan
ang kanilang karapatan na matamasa ang edukasyong inaasam-asam.
Talo sa nasabing usapin ang mga magulang na
nagpapa-aral ng kanilang anak.
Bukod sa mga mag-aaral apektado na rin dito
ngayon angmga faculty, staff at lahat ng kawani ng USM kasama na angmga
tricycle drivers, karenderia, mga naglalako sa paligid ng Pamantasan at maging
kalakaran ng negosyo sa bayan.
Kaya naman umaapela ang grupo sa USM Board
of Regents, Commission On Higher Education, Municipal and Provincial Government
na mamagitan na sa problema at di maisakripisyo ang karapatan ng mga estudyante
sa edukasyon.
Kaugnay nito, nananawagan ang ICSC sa mga
kapwa estudyante na wag ng hintayin pa kung anu ang kalalabasan ng gusot ng magkabilang
grupo bagkus hinimok nila ang kapwa mag-aaral na igiit ang karapatang makapasok
at maipagpatuloy ang klase. (Rhoderick Beñez)

MANIFESTO
OF CONCERN
We, the Initiating Committee on
Students Concern (ICSC) is a group of concerned students who aims to rally
and unite the students with the support of the community to advance student’s
right and interest in USM.
For about six months already, we
have been the primary victims of the problems besetting USM brought about by
some issues raised by some sectors against the highest official of the school,
among others. Classes have been disrupted, students felt harassed and
intimidated in getting to their classes, and to aggravate, some access to USM
is denied by some parties!
We, the students become both the
unwilling tools and pawns among the protagonists. Don’t we have the right to
pursue education free from anxiety and uncertainty that is caused by the
warring parties?
Our right to pursue education has
been infringed! Our parents struggle hard to send us to school; hence, we
demand not to hamper our right to education. It is one of our basic rights! We
demand justice!
While the students are the much
affected by the disruption of classes in USM, other stakeholders are affected
as well, like the faculty, staff, personnel and other workers in USM, drivers,
vendors and others.
Hence, we demand that the USM Board
of Regents, Commission of Higher Education, Local and Provincial Governments
must give immediate attention and INTERVENE to the problems in USM that
curtailed our pursuit to rightful education!
We call on our fellow students of
USM NOT to wait for the resolution of the issues between the parties
concerned to join us and demand for our right to resume our classes
immediately. Up to when we are going to wait? WE SHOULD ACT NOW!

For the warring parties to resolve the issues with the least distractions to
student’s classes!
4. Pursue
the student’s right for quality education!
