STATION PROFILE

The station DXVL FM, Kool 94.9 Mhz began broadcasting on July 18, 2006. The station is owned and managed by the University of Southern Mindanao, a State University located in Kabacan, North Cotabato. The station serves as the information, communication and entertainment medium for its intended areas of coverage.

Its effective areas of coverage include the entire Cotabato Province and nearby Municipalities of the Provinces of Maguindanao, Sultan Kudarat, and Bukidnon, and Davao del Sur. DXVL FM is an affiliate of the state-run Radyo ng Bayan Network of the Philippine Broadcasting Service- Bureau of Broadcast Services.

Recently, the station has acquired a brand new 3KW FM Transmitter to ensure quality signal to its service area.

Station personnel are duly and accredited members of the Kapisanan ng mga Broadcasters ng Pilipinas (KBP).

As an essential infrastructure, the radio station helps in the formation of a positive and development-oriented atmosphere within its areas of coverage by providing its audience with the latest news and information on home and agricultural technologies thru its broadcast programs. The radio station also aims to:

  • To assist the government in information dissemination thru newscast and plugs on community development projects, rural industries, self-help programs, beautification and nutrition, energy and conservation, ecological projects, and human resource development;

  • To assist the various needs of the diverse local communities by providing them the medium for the expression of their community identity and characteristics;

  • To provide monitoring reports on the progress of the development projects with emphasis on  national, provincial, municipal, and barangay projects;

  • To inspire and motivate the community by airing success stories of social and economic endeavors designed to uplift the quality of life;

  • To provide development communication students and electronics students of the university with a venue for their laboratory & internship and to generate income from its operation.
